Fall into the Abyss (pull my cord) is a bouncy ball dispensing mechanism that playfully represents the fall from light to dark. Once the cord is pulled a single bouncy ball is released from the magazine and dropped into the jug. The ball emerges from the mouth of the jug destined to fall into the pit below. The viewer then has a chance to save the ball from this fate by catching it, but in doing so they risk the chance of freeing the ball into the gallery space. The viewer feels directly responsible for the ball that they release exemplified in the emotions that are brought forth. Expressed emotions include: sadness, in the case of losing a ball into the pit; joy, upon saving a ball and being allowed to play with it; terror, when the ball bounces free and careens across the gallery; desire, when one pull of the cord, one ball, is not enough.
